Where does Boston, Massachusetts rank as the happiest state in America?
Massachusetts is ranked among the top 20 states in America in terms of happiness.
According to HubScore, Massachusetts has been distinguished as one of the most joyful states in the United States.
HubScore assessed each of the 50 states in relation to four distinct categories: economic prosperity, familial and social ties, physical and mental health, and environmental and societal well-being. Additionally, within each category, comparisons were drawn across 30 additional metrics encompassing all aspects.
The state of Massachusetts entered the top 20 in this year’s ranking, securing the 17th position with a Happiness Index Score of 66.9.
Furthermore, it achieved a position within the top 10 for environmental and societal well-being, securing the seventh spot. Additionally, it ranked 14th in terms of family and social relationships, and 20th for physical and emotional wellness. Ranked at number 21 in the category of economic well-being.
With a Happiness Index Score of 72.3, New Hampshire secured the second position, trailing only behind another state. North Dakota secured the top spot with a score of 73.2.

In this study, WalletHub drew upon the findings of “happiness” research to determine which environmental factors are linked to a person’s overall well-being and satisfaction with life. Previous studies have found that good economic, emotional, physical and social health are all key to a well-balanced and fulfilled life.
