Linda a Boston Seaport condo broker, told Sara she should volunteer at the food pantry for an edge to applying to elite colleges.

“Do I have to talk to them?” Sara scrunched her face with disdain as the first car of hungry people pulled up. She avoided eye contact as she loaded the cluttered trunk with donated groceries. But then a transporter van driven by a homeless woman and her three angry barking German Shepherd dogs pulled up. “They aren’t bad,” the woman apologized. “Just hungry.” Sara offered treats and they calmed. “Thank you,” the driver cried.

“No. Thank you,” Sara beamed and beckoned the next car to pull up.
